Montana Grizzly Football 2024 Season Recap
The 2024 season is over for the Montana Grizzlies Football team. A season in which the Grizzlies started in the top 5 ended in the 2nd round of the FCS Playoffs. Griz Football comes with immensely high expectations, so many fans were disappointed with the season.
Montana finished 9-5 overall, 5-3 in Big Sky play, 5th in the conference, lost the Great Divide Trophy, snatched another playoff victory at home and had gut-wrenching losses and exciting victories.
The season consisted of many notable moments. Junior Bergen returned two punts for touchdowns setting the FCS record for most punt return touchdowns in a career (8). Eli Gillman eclipsed 2000 career rushing yards. Nick Ostmo moved up to 5th all-time on the rushing yards list with 2,625 yards. The Grizzlies even set Scorigami in their 59-2 win over Moorhead State. That's the only time in the history of college football to end in a 59-2 score (That was my favorite superlative this season).

We're already counting down the days to the 2025 season. Montana plays a 12-game schedule next year. It's a unique schedule. It's also a grind. An extra game means the Griz will play their 12 games in consecutive weeks without a bye. Technically, our bye is in week 0, the week prior to Central Washington on September 6th. The good news is there are 8 home games, including 6 of the first 7 weeks.
