The Montana Lady Griz are no strangers to players taking their talents overseas. Last year it was Sammy Fatkin signing with a professional team in Germany (now playing in Australia). This year it's one of the all-time Lady Griz greats receiving her chance at an overseas contract.

A 6-1 forward from Colfax, Washington, 4x All-Big Sky Conference team member, number 4 on the all-time scoring list, top 10 in career field goal percentage and free throw percentage and number 1 on the all-time games played list at the University of Montana... It's Carmen Gfeller.

Gfeller signed with B.B.C. Amicale Steesel out of Steinsel, Luxembourg. Amicale Steesel plays in the Luxembourg League where Steinsel reached the Semifinals last year before dropping to Grengewald in a best-of-three series.

Steesel has found plenty of success in the last 10 years in the Luxembourg League. According to Eurobasket.com Steesel won Luxembourg League Championships in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 with semifinal appearances in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2024.

If you want to tune into Gfeller's next career step, the Luxembourg League plays its season between the end of September and late April in the championship game. Last year, Amicale Steesel played 18 regular season games with 7 postseason games.

Gfeller was one of three Lady Griz to graduate from last year's team with two more transferring and two players stepping away from basketball. The 2024-2025 Lady Griz will certainly look different than last year's team.

We wish Carmen nothing but the best of luck on her next adventure. She will go down as one of the all-time greats in the record book but also a fan favorite.

Farmin' Carmen takes on Europe.
