Playing Basketball On A Torn Knee? That’s What Griz Senior Te’Jon Sawyer Did All Season
I'll have you know I stubbed my toe last week, while watering my spice garden, and I only cried for 20 minutes.
Spongebob and me are equally tough, but Griz Men's Basketball Senior Forward Te'Jon Sawyer is about 10x tougher than me or the average sponge.
Griz senior Te'Jon Sawyer played with a TORN MENISCUS
During an interview on The Daily Drive with Ace Sauerwein, Sawyer said he's just looking to get healthy this offseason after playing with a bum knee all year.
"Some people may know I was hurt during the season," began Sawyer. "Going through a knee injury so right now I'm just focusing on that. I'm planning on getting surgery in the next few weeks."
Sawyer had preseason surgery that forced him to miss most of the preseason workouts. It was a clean-up procedure, but it didn't correct the torn meniscus or the missing cartilage.
"I definitely had my highs and lows," said Sawyer of fighting the pain through the year. "It was definitely a battle and I definitely felt pain every day."
Despite the injuries, the Grizzly big man powered through them to play in 34 games this season. Oh, and he tore his meniscus further in the game at Tennessee on November 13th.

Sawyer's March Madness experience
The Griz fell in the opening round of the NCAA tournament 85-66, against the Wisconsin Badgers last week. Even with the loss, playing in March Madness was an out-of-body experience for Sawyer.
"It was a dream," began Sawyer. "Always growing up, since I started playing basketball, I've always watched that tournament. It's alwasy been a big thing around basketball culture, but it's always been a dream to play in that."
Good news for Sawyer
You thought Sawyer's career was over, didn't you, Squidward?
Sawyer announced he had been awarded another year of eligibility. Will he be back with the Grizzlies next year? He'd like to be.
