"Let's use this patch to promote something that's on campus. I think people will talk and wonder about what the patch means, and how there's a whole background and support behind it," said UM Athletic Director Kent Haslam in a press conference on Tuesday.
Bottom line: The new initiative wants to help Montana-raised kids afford coming to school at UM.
What Will Montana’s New Jersey Patch Look Like?
The patch will say "For Montana" and will be featured in different colors depending on which color jersey Montana wears. White patches for white jerseys and maroon patches for maroon jerseys.

Will Montana Have Other Jersey Patches Soon?
Haslam said that UM's partner Learfield engaged in talks for a corporate jersey patch, but nothing panned out yet.

"Got close on some; some went different directions. I still think in the future we'll have a traditional corporate jersey patch agreement," said Haslam.
"Part of the hesitancy for corporations and for businesses to dive into this is it's hard to put a monetary value on what it is."
