Montana vs. Southern Utah kicks off the 2026 season this Saturday night at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. The Griz have a 22-game home-opener winning streak coming into the weekend.

The Griz, wearing all white uniforms, took some time to distance themselves from Division II Central Washington. Montana led by just 4 at the half, but outscored CWU 21-0 in the 2nd half to pull ahead. CWU was coached by Chris Fisk, who now coaches Portland State.

Montana's 29-24 win over Missouri State marked the 10th straight season-opening victory. It was a battle down to the end in front of a sellout crowd.

Another season opener that was a one-score game in the second half. Junior Bergen got the day started with a 54-yard receiving touchdown just a minute into the season.

The Grizzlies forced 5 turnovers on the dominant season-opening win over NW State. Mitch Roberts scored the first two touchdowns of the game, and Junior Bergen scored two more in the second half.

It was an all-time victory for the Montana Grizzly football program when the Griz barreled into Seattle and knocked off the No. 20 Washington Huskies. Kevin Macias had a pair of short-range field goals and Cam Humphrey scored the lone Montana TD. Marcus Welnel had a fantastic day with 12 tackles, 1 sack and an interception. Patrick O'Connell added 10 tackles and 2 sacks. Gavin Robertson picked off 2 passes.

I don't know if we should even count this one, but we will because it's so bizarre. The 2020 season got pushed to Spring 2021 thanks to COVID-19 shutting the world down. Montana only played two games in the Spring in front of very few fans. Weird, weird times...
