This article is being produced in the Rose City - Portland, Oregon as I am on the road with the Montana Lady Griz. I love the travel of basketball season. It allows me the opportunity to travel to places to, obviously call basketball games, and take in different cities and towns.

Some places, like Pocatello or Cheney, I would never go to without the Lady Griz. I'm blessed is basically what I'm getting at.

But of all the Big Sky Conference cities & towns, which ones are the best? Which ones are the worst?

Big Sky Conference Cities & Towns Ranked

These rankings are as subjective as subjective gets. The factors I looked at were:

  • Events (Sporting events, concerts, conventions, etc.)
  • Scenery
  • General vibes of the city/town

So let's get on with the rankings! From #10 - #1, here are the rankings of Big Sky Conference cities and towns.

#10 Cheney, Washington

The home of Eastern Washington doesn't have a lot going on. We stay in Spokane when we play at Eastern, but I don't count Spokane as Cheney. I can't say I've done a lot in Cheney, but from what I've seen I'm dropping them in the cellar.

#9 Pocatello, Idaho

Unfortunately, I haven't explored Pocatello as much as some of the cities. All I've done is go to the Jaker's near our hotel. Not much going on... Poca checks in #9.

#8 Greeley, Colorado

I've actually had fun in Greeley! There's a sweet, cute downtown with some cool bars and a cool bookstore too (NERD!). The negative of Greeley is that it smells. I mean, it literally smells. #8

#7 Moscow, Idaho

Moscow has the Kibbie Dome and a sweet basketball arena. Outside of that, it's lumped in with Cheny and Pocatello as the "Ehh, not much to see here" cities. #7

#6 Sacramento, California

There's more to do in Sacramento than most of the cities in the Big Sky. That's for sure. But there isn't a lot of flair to the city. They have the Kings and events like the Professional Bull Riding tour. #6

#5 Ogden, Utah

It's one of the prettiest cities in the Big Sky. It's an awesome place, but I deduct points from Ogden because their beer is weak. And I like beer. Outside of that, it's an awesome town. #5

#4 Portland, Oregon

Some people hate Portland. I LOVE Portland. The Portlandia weird vibe is such a fun city to visit with a lot of concerts, performances, great food, the Trail Blazers and Timbers. #4

#3 Flagstaff, Arizona

Flagstaff is incredible. Beautiful scenery. Fun downtown bars and restaurants. Insanely high elevation and is not too far from Phoenix or the Grand Canyon or Sedona. It's my favorite non-Montana city. #3

#2 Bozeman, Montana

I might get some negative flack for this, but I love Bozeman. It's beautiful with a lively downtown, fun bars, and cool concert venues. It would be number one if not for...

#1 Missoula, Montana

I may be biased but Missoula is the best city in the Big Sky. It's like Bozeman but instead of a bougee vibe like Bozeman, it's got a hipster vibe. I'll take hipster over bougee vibe.
