What’s At Stake For Griz-Cat This Saturday

It's that time of year again, folks. Dust off your hatred for Montana State (or Montana if you're a Cats fan reading this article) because it is rivalry week.

We know of the pure hatred that Griz-Cat on the gridiron provides but don't sleep on Griz-Cat basketball edition. We may not get 26 thousand people cramming into a stadium to watch hoops, but you better believe Dahlberg Arena will be loud and electric this Saturday afternoon and evening. Saturday, January 25th features the Montana Grizzlies and Montana State Bobcats for the first time this year on the hardwood. The women's game tips at 2 pm while the men get underway at 7 pm.

Here's what's at stake:

Montana VS Montana State (Men's Game)

The Grizzlies check in 5-2 in Big Sky play after their win on Monday night over the Idaho Vandals. Montana is trying to hang with Northern Colorado for first play in the league. UNC defeated the Griz a few weeks back and are 6-0 in league play. Montana needs a win to maintain their positioning behind the Bears.

Montana State is getting hot heading into the right game. After starting just 1-4 in league play, MSU bounced back with back-to-back wins against Eastern Washington and Weber State. Just a few weeks ago, the Cats were 5 minutes away from beating Northern Colorado in Bozeman.

Montana VS Montana State (Women's Game)

Montana State carries a lot of momentum into Saturday's showdown. The Cats have won 10 games in a row, are 17-2 overall and are 7-0 in Big Sky play. MSU can really distance themselves as front runners atop the league.

Montana is 2-1 since acting head coach Nate Harris took over for Brian Holsinger last week. The Lady Griz defeated Idaho State and Weber State before dropping to Idaho on Monday afternoon.
