When it comes to brews I have two favorite seasons and I can't decide which one I prefer. I always appreciate March for the Spring brews and St. Patrick's Day. That is what you get for being in a bagpipe band, don't forget to support your local pipe bands.

My second favorite beer season is the fall. As the weather starts to change and the seasonal brews come out it is a great time to enjoy some of what Missoula has to offer. As our city continues to grow and as we get more breweries we get more choices and that is great for beer drinkers. Here are just a few to choose from and remember to always enjoy responsibly.

Bayern Brewing

Bayern offers up their "Oktoberfest" this time of year.  It is described as a traditional Bavarian Dark Marzen. According to Bayern it is their fastest selling seasonal brew, so if you are going to give it a try you better hurry. 6.0% Alc. by volume and a IBU 23.

Kettlehouse Brewing Company

Kettlehouse offers up their seasonal "Hemptober Spliff". They describe it as a "Traditional Oktoberfest, brewed in a non-traditional way." Just the way the Kettlehouse likes to do things. 6.5% Alc. by volume and a IBU 24.

Big Sky Brewing

Big Sky Brewing has an "Oktoberfest" beer too. Big Sky describes this brew as a "World Class Marzen style lager". 5.6% Alc. by volume and a IBU of 26.

Great Burn Brewing

You can't have a Fall beer selection without at least one pumpkin beer. Great Burn Brewing has the "Gourdgeous Pumpkin Ale". Great Burn brews this ale with 80 lbs. of local organic pumpkins from the Bitterroot Valley. 6.5% Alc. by volume and a IBU of 13.

This is just a short list of what we have available here in Missoula for the Fall. Look at how lucky we are! Recently there have been more ciders that are being created here in Western Montana as I sample more of those I will be reporting back on what I find. Here is another reminder to please enjoy responsibly.
