After a six-game sweep of the Glacier Range Riders in their final home stand of the 2022 season, which included a wild 12-7 victory Saturday night, the Missoula Paddleheads have secured home field advantage in the PBL playoffs.

The Paddleheads have now claimed the best record in the Pioneer Baseball League's North Division for the 2nd half of the 2022 campaign, while the overall 2nd-half championship is still up for grabs. Their record since July 19th is 31-12 with six games left to play, while the Grand Junction Rockies of the South Division stand at 31-10.

The race for the 2nd-half championship as of September 4th, 2022

The Zootown boys will finish their regular season with a six game series in Boise which ends Saturday September 10th. While it's not determined yet who they will face in the Divisional round of the playoffs, we do know Missoula will play host to the 2nd and 3rd games of the 3-game series on September 15th and 16th. Tickets for those games are available HERE, as are PBL Championship tickets (should Missoula advance)

The Paddleheads' impressive winning percentage now stands at .733, better than any baseball team in the world (MLB, MiLB, Independent Leagues, Japanese Baseball League) and go into the final week of the season with several players leading the league in individual statistics:

  • Infielder and DH Patrick Chung leads the PBL in batting average (.453)
  • First baseman Jayson Newman leads the league in RBIs and home runs (113 / 31)
  • Relief pitcher Sam Hellinger has recorded a league-high 15 saves this year, he has also struck out 71 batters and maintained a 2.09 ERA

Good luck, fellas! #GoPaddleheads
