Well, this stinks.

After the NCAA passed a bill that would allow college athletes and employees to gamble on professional sports, enough colleges came forward and said, "Hold on a second."

"More than two-thirds of Division I members needed to vote to stop the rule change, and that bar was reached Friday. The 30-day period would have ended Saturday." - ESPN News Services

University of Montana employees received an email confirming the news.

"The rescission means that all forms of betting on any NCAA-sponsored sport — amateur, collegiate and professional — remain strictly prohibited for student-athletes and athletics department staff members," -Senior Associate Athletic Director of Student Affairs and Compliance Jean Gee

A couple of quick thoughts on the decision to overturn pro sports betting among college employees/athletes:

1) It's smarter to disallow us from doing so. College athletes and coaches have numerous connections to the professional realm. It's dangerous to let us bet freely. You could argue people will still find ways to bet, which is true, but reports have stated betting addiction levels are at an all-time high. 

2) Selfishly, this sucks. I wanted to gamble on professional sports, despite it being a dangerous door to open.

Brooks Davis Named Jerry Rice Award Finalist

Keep the accolades coming. Fresh off a scintillating performance against the Cats, freshman Brooks Davis was named to the Jerry Rice Award Finalist list for best Freshman in the country. 

Just two years ago, Montana's Eli Gillman brought home the award. Davis is one of 25 finalists.
