Missoula Named Best College Sports Town in America

USA Today Readers' Choice Awards named Missoula as the "Best College Sports Town in America."

Missoula was crowned after a weeks-long journey and campaign to determine the best sports town, as voted on by USA Today's readers.

How about that one, folks? Missoula beat out some of the titans of college sports. Here were the official 10 best college sports towns:

10. Athens, Georgia

9. Baton Rouge, Louisiana

8. Madison, Wisconsin

7. Knoxville, Tennessee

6. Lexington, Kentucky

5. University Park, Pennsylvania

4. Norman, Oklahoma

3. Oxford, Mississippi

2. Tuscaloosa, Alabama

1. Missoula, Montana

Missoula beat the homes of the Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Penn State Nittany Lions, and others.

SEC? Big Ten? Pfft. Forget them; welcome to the Big Sky Conference.

I've only been to two of the above top 10 towns, but it's hard to argue Missoula isn't one of, if not the, greatest college sports towns. It's a special feeling when a town shuts down on Saturday for home football games.

You don't get that feeling everywhere, and I can't wait to be back with everybody on Saturday for the season opener.
