Montana vs. UC Davis: Grizzlies Series History

The Montana Grizzlies jump back into Big Sky Conference play this weekend with a trip to Davis, California, and a matchup with the Aggies.

This will be the 12th all-time meeting between the Griz and UC-Davis. Let's look at the history between the two teams.

Montana Grizzlies vs. UC Davis Aggies History

Montana has owned the all-time series, winning nine of the first 11 games. That includes a perfect 6-0 record on the road.

The most recent trip was in 2023 for a top-25 matchup. Montana was coming off a shocking loss the week before at Northern Arizona, and vibes were low on the Griz. Montana took the game over late in the second quarter and scored 17 points in a row. Eli Gillman highlighted the stretch with an 85-yard touchdown run.

The series has been much closer over the last four meetings. In fact, the series has been tied since 2018. Two Montana wins, two UC Davis wins.

That includes the last meeting between these two teams. Montana hosted UC Davis, a top-5 team, back in 2024. UC Davis outscored Montana 23-7 over the final three quarters to top the Griz 30-14.

Montana was running its two-quarterback system with Logan Fife and Keali'i Ah Yat (ah, the good ol' days). Fife finished the day going 13-23 for 147 yards, a touchdown, and a pick. Ah Yat went 7-18 for 62 yards, an INT, and rushed in a touchdown, too.
