USA Today’s Top College Sports Traditions List Ignores Griz Legacy
Hey, what's the big idea here? Why aren't our beloved Montana Grizzlies on this national publication?
USA Today's Best College Sports Traditions
USA Today's 10Best series is holding a vote on what the best college sports tradition is.
Even though it doesn't feature the Griz, you may still vote on your favorite here.
Here are some of the options:
- The 12th Man (Texas A&M's rowdy student section)
- The Army-Navy Game (USA! USA! USA! USA!)
- 'Blues Brothers' Dance (The University of Michigan's choreographed dance)
- Cowbell (Mississippi State's loud tradition of, you guessed it, ringing cowbells)
- Enter Sandman (Virginia Tech's entrance to the legendary rock tune Enter Sandman by Metallica)
- Hawaii's Ha'a (The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors' pregame dance)
- Hawkeye Wave (The University of Iowa's heartwarming wave to the patients at the Stead Family Children's Hospital overlooking Kinnick Stadium)
- Howard's Rock (Clemson's tradition where the football players touch the Death Valley rock before sprinting down the hillside into Memorial Stadium)
- Jump Around (The University of Wisconsin's stadium-bouncing tradition of, literally, jumping around to House of Pain's Jump Around before the 4th quarter)
- Kicking the Flagpoles (USCs fans kicking flagpoles for good luck)
- The Little Three (The triad rivalry between Williams College, Amherst College and Wesleyan University)

There are plenty more to choose from, but I stopped at "The Little Three,' because it shows that the list isn't comprised of ALL FBS traditions.
So why isn't Montana's 37 Flag Raising featured on this list?
It's a great tradition that incorporates the spirit of Montana through alumni, Montana legends, and even celebrities.
Remember Suga' Sean O'Malley?

I'm not even saying the 37 Flag tradition has to win, but at least include it, eh?
Or if the 37 Flag doesn't do it for you, how about the tradition of drinking a Coors Light under the Grizzly Arch?
