Meet the Griz: Kalispell Native Drew Deck’s Breakout Moment
Meet the Griz is a series that tells the stories of Montana Grizzlies athletes, coaches, and contributors.
Meet the Griz: Wide Receiver, Kalispell's Own Drew Deck
Saturday, September 6, will always be remembered in the Deck house.
"Yeah, I was," Deck confirmed he's been a lifelong Griz fan. "Our family was big Griz fans growing up, you know, growing up in Kalispell kind of close to Missoula. So we were fortunate enough to come to quite a few Griz games growing up."
I'm sure Deck dreamt about not only playing for the Griz but scoring for the Griz. After five years and 30 games, Deck found the endzone in the season-opening 42-17 win over Central Washington.
"Definitely a weight off the shoulders. Pretty exciting," Deck said of scoring his first career TD.

Deck was a penalty away from a two-touchdown performance, too, but his teammate's foul didn't get to him.
"Not as much frustration, you know, kind of more of the 'we'll get it fixed up and get back out there.' They give us another chance, we'll make the most of it," said Deck.

On the life side of things, Deck got engaged this summer. Everything's coming up Milhouse for Drew Deck, but don't expect him to plan the wedding.
"That's more of a her question," Deck laughed about what their wedding will look like. "She's kind of handling all that stuff, but yeah pretty exciting."
Deck's fiancée comes from a football family, so there's a good chance of a backyard game breaking out at the wedding.
