Head Coach of the Montana Grizzlies Softball program Stef Ewing called into the February 19th edition of The Daily Drive with Ace Sauerwein.

On the road again... I can't wait to get on the road again

Coach and I discussed the start of the season and the start of her tenure at the University of Montana. The team is in the midst of 26 consecutive games on the road to begin the season, but Ewing says the long days on the road is when a team forms.

"When you're on the road with the team it's where you become a team," said Ewing. "We got some great cast of characters. We took the girls to Top Golf when we landed. Just to do something to move around and do something where there's no pressure."

But I think Coach would agree they don't need their travel schedules to be screwed up like it was last week.

"Coming home was a beast. We departed yesterday from El Paso at 6:30 in the morning, left Las Cruces at 4. Got into Denver, no problem... and then get on the plane to come to Missoula and there's a medical emergency, so we had to go back to the gate. Then we had about 40 planes ahead of us that had to de-ice."

After all the hoopla, the team finally got into Missoula at 3 pm. That's nearly half of the day spent on the plane or in an airport.

Ahh the beauty of living in Missoula.

As for on the field, the Grizzlies are 2-9 and have lost 5 games in a row against stiff competition. The nationally ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers were included in the two losses.
