The Montana Grizzlies played the Washington Huskies Friday night in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. It was a matchup of two teams that won their respective conferences last Sunday in shootouts. Montana defeated Idaho to capture the Big Sky crown and Washington beat Michigan State to win the university's first Big 10 Conference title.

On Friday, Washington proved to be too much for a depleted Grizzlies team.



With what transpired with the UW program, it's easy to root for this program, and we will be pulling for them.

As for Montana, all I can say is what a season. We are so proud of everything they accomplished. With multiple starters out at the end of the season, the Griz still pulled together to win both the regular season and tournament championships. They became the first-ever Big Sky team to win three straight Big Sky regular-season titles.

They made it back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021, and they captured the hearts of Missoulians.
