Montana vs. Montana State: The Rivalry By The Numbers

Before the regular season version of the Brawl of the Wild, we looked at the last 10 rivalry matchups. Now, since the Griz and Cats are meeting for the first time ever in the playoffs, we're breaking down the all-time series by the numbers.

Montana vs. Montana State All-Time Series Records

This Saturday will be the 125th edition of the Brawl of the Wild. Montana leads the all-time series 75-44-5. Montana State leads the all-time series in Bozeman, 25-22-3. 

The largest margin of victory for the Grizzlies came back in 1904 when Montana decimated Montana State 79-0. 

The Great Divide Trophy Series

Since the Great Divide Trophy was introduced at the turn of the century, Montana State leads the series 12-11. The winner after 100 years will permanently hold the trophy; however, this game will not be played for the trophy. Both sides decided that there was already too much at stake.

I don't know if that's true, but I imagine that's what conversations sounded like.
