Montana Fans, Monte Needs Your Vote in the Big Sky Mascot Challenge
A month ago I wrote the dumbest of dumb articles when I ranked the Big Sky Conference mascots on how easily I could beat them in a fight. Now the official Big Sky Conference social media pages are conducting a "Mascot Challenge," where fans can vote on their favorite league mascots.
This is what happens during the in the sports community. We love baseball but we can't write about it 24/7, so we focus our energy on mascots. Journalism at its finest, folks.
The championship round is set. Joe Vandal with the Idaho Vandals squares off against our beloved Monte and the Montana Grizzlies. You already know who I'm voting for and you should too.
Big Sky Conference voting results
Monte, our grizzly savior, defeated Benny the Bengal (Idaho State), Waldo the Wildcat (Weber State) and Champ the Bobcat (Montana State) to advance to the Mascot Challenge Finals.
Joe Vandal, who I have to admit has some legendary facial hair, knocked off Gunrock the Aggie (UC Davis) and Swoop the Eagle (Eastern Washington). I'm obviously voting Monte in the Finals, but Joe Vandal is a solid consolation victor. The facial hair, the helmet and the bulging muscles make him a bad, bad dude.
The rest of the individual matchup results can be found here, and I have to say,
the voters got most of it right. The only change to make is Louie the Lumberjack (Northern Arizona) over Champ. Maybe that's because I'm biased against the Cats, but Louie is one badass lumberjack. Again, look at the facial hair on this stud.
The Final voting poll has yet to be released, but we'll let you know when to #VoteMonte.
