Yesterday marked the 5th anniversary of the tremendous documentary Playing Like A Girl: The House That Rob Built. It's the story of legendary Lady Griz Head Coach Robin Selvig and how his commitment to women's basketball transformed the sport in Montana, and arguably, beyond.

Robin Selvig should be a Women's Basketball Hall of Famer

We're reminiscing about the documentary and making a pitch to get Selvig in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. Let's start with Coach Selvig's on-court success.

In 38 seasons (1978-2016), Selvig racked up an unbelievable 865-286 record with 18 Big Sky Conference regular season championships and 17 Big Sky Conference Tournament Championships, plus 5 Mountain West Regular Season titles and 4 Mountain West Postseason Championships.

All the Big Sky numbers are league records.

In comparison to the rest of the country, Selvig is one of 21 women's head coaches at ever NCAA level to reach 800 career victories. He ranks 14th behind only some of the best names in women's basketball history.

Just to name a few...

Selvig's teams made 21 NCAA Tournaments including five in a row between 1994-1998.

I don't know if the lack of NCAA tournament success, Selvig's teams were 6-21 in the NCAAs, but if that's the case it's a ridiculous argument. For what he had in Montana, the Lady Griz were never going to truly compete on a national level.

Then there's the entire off-the-court side of Selvig's impact. Watch The House That Rob Built and tell me Selvig was not instrumental and Hall of Fame-worthy.

I mean, this is not difficult, people. How is he not in the Women's HoF?

He's a hall of famer in the state. He's a hall of famer at the University of Montana. It's time to enshrine him in national women's basketball immortality with the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
