Open Letter to Sac State President Dr. Wood’s Trash Talk

Ok, we all know what Sacramento State President Dr. Luke Wood is doing. He’s attempting to garner clout for his university through outlandish and inflammatory comments. It’s a Skip Bayless tactic that annoys me. It's never genuine. I don’t enjoy covering these comments because I’m giving into what he wants, but he is the president of an institution. What he says, especially when it’s outlandish, should carry weight behind it. However, because of his clout-chasing tactics I won’t be referring to him by his name. We’ll call him “Doc” in this article.  

Doc made comments on last Saturday’s Sac State vs Northern Colorado broadcast. His comments were directed at the University of Montana.

Rarely do I use “lol” in an article, but l-o-l. The Montana Pandas is hilarious. It's not Blazing Saddles-like comedy, but more like when a movie is so bad you laugh at it. Pandas!? What kind of playground insult is that?

Did he think that was going to come across sharper? Did it sound better in his head?  

Sure, you can make the argument Montana’s schedule has been a cakewalk. I disagree considering the Griz have a top 10 win on the schedule, but I can at least compute the argument. Calling someone the Montana Pandas is where I laugh and go “Oh, this guy doesn’t know how to trash talk does he?”

I have one positive note on Doc’s on-screen interview. Kudos to him for creating some smoke around Friday night’s nationally televised game. I’m sure it was by design, but kudos to you, Doc.
