August and early September can be blissful for aspiring NFL players. Unfortunately, it can be a gut punch, too, when players are cut from active rosters. Take veteran NFL quarterback Ben DiNucci, for example.
Griz cuts
NFL cuts are pouring in as the 2025 regular season nears, and one that caught our attention was former Montana Grizzly lineman Dylan Cook.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Pittsburgh Steelers cut Dylan Cook.
The Butte native entered the NFL in 2022 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad. After one season with the Bucs, Cook was waived in May 2023 and later picked up by the Steelers, where he's been the last two seasons.

Despite being on an active roster on and off over the last few seasons, Cook has yet to make his NFL debut.
This comes just a few days after former Griz wide receiver Samori Toure was cut by the Chicago Bears.

Bobcat cuts
The Pittsburgh Steelers were busy on the chopping block. On top of Montana's Cook, Pittsburgh released Montana State's Lance McCutcheon.
McCutcheon has been in the NFL since 2022, but has only appeared in 10 games - all occurring in 2022 with the Los Angeles Rams.
