Missoula Swimmer Is One Win Away From A Gold Medal
This story gets better and better every time I write about it. Missoula native Katharine Berkoff continues to succeed and represent Missoula, Montana well.
She is one race away from bringing an Olympic Gold Medal back home to Western Montana.
The Women's 100m Backstroke is tomorrow afternoon. The race begins at 12:56 pm Mountain Time. Berkoff is one of seven swimmers vying for gold tomorrow and one of just two Americans. Joining Berkoff is Lakeville, Minnesota native Regan Smith a.k.a. the Riptide Rocket (what a sweet nickname). For Smith, it's her second Olympic games. She medaled three times in the 2020 Tokyo Games in the 200m butterfly, 4x100 m medley and the 100m backstroke.

Tomorrow's race will air on NBC and Peacock. We'll be rooting for you, Katharine, all the way back here in Missoula.
Ivan Roe
One of the other Montanas in action was Ivan Roe in the shooting competitions. Roe finished the Men's 10m Air Rifle challenge with a score of 626.3 and finished 34th out of 49th. In the Mixed 10m Air Rifle competition, Roe and his partner Sagen Maddalena scored a 624.9 and finished 18th. Unfortunately, Roe won't advance in either competition, but Roe has a shot at the Men's 50m Rifle Three Positions competition this Wednesday, July 31.
Brady Ellison
Billings archer Brady Ellison placed 7th in the Ranking Round of the Men's Individual Archery competition. He'll compete next in the Eliminations Round on Thursday, August 1 at 2:48 am. In the Mixed Team competition, Ellison and partner Casey Kaufhold finished 3rd in the Ranking Round behind South Korea and Germany. The duo will compete on Friday, August 2 in the Elims round.
Cameron Wood of Bozeman starts his Olympic journey in BMX Racing on August 1st.
