
Montana Dance Team Wins National Title at College Classic
The University of Montana Dance Team brought home a national championship from this weekend's "The College Classic" national dance competition.
The Grizzly Dance Team captured the 2026 Division 1 National Championship in the small school Pom Dance Battle.

The Griz scored a 91.94 in the small pom final, edging out Central Michigan University (91.36), Texas Christian University (91.00), Lamar University (88.74), and Fairfield University (87.70).
The College Classic is broken into five divisions — Division I, Division II, Division III, Junior College, and NAIA. Division I is broken up into large schools and small schools.

There are four events in which you can take home a national championship:
- Pom Dance Battle
- Jazz
- Hip Hop
- Team Performance
There are extra performances like the Tumble Rumble ("Each cheer team can nominate one athlete to represent their team in the Tumble Rumble. These athletes will showcase a running tumbling pass and a standing tumbling pass. One athlete will earn the Tumble Rumble Battle Cup").
And the Pyramid Battle ("This Battle features cheer teams selected to showcase the pyramid section of their competition routine. After the performances, the judges will select one winner to award the Pyramid Battle Cup").

- Large Pom: Baylor Bears
- Large Hip Hop: Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns
- Large Jazz: Western Michigan Broncos
- Large Team Performance: Towson Tigers
- Small Hip Hop: Lamar Cardinals
- Small Jazz: South Alabama Jaguars
- Small Team Performance: New Haven Chargers
