The owners of a popular locally owned sandwich shop in Montana have announced that the restaurant will soon close after nearly nine years in business. The news is heartbreaking to loyal customers that have frequented the establishment.

It's no surprise that Montana is rapidly changing. With so many new people moving to the state, it's inevitable. Sadly, many places that Montanans have held near and dear for decades are closing and becoming nothing more than a memory. Now, a popular sandwich shop in Butte is about to close for good, and we're not sure how to feel about it.

Popular Montana Sandwich Shop Will Close in June

If you've lived in Montana for awhile, you have most likely heard of the Staggering Ox. The first location opened in Helena in the mid-80s, and since then, locations in Missoula, Billings, and Butte have opened, although Missoula's location has sadly closed. The Staggering Ox is considered a staple for sandwich lovers in Montana.

The Butte Staggering Ox will be closing its doors June 1, 2024 after almost 9 years open. We would like to thank all of our wonderful employees throughout the years we could not have done it without your help.

The location in Butte is the only location closing, and is due to the owners retiring. Luckily, you can still get a delicious Staggering Ox sandwich in Helena, Billings, and Missoula. You still have until June 1 to stop into the Butte location.
