Which Montana River is the world's shortest?
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the little waterway known as the Roe River is just over 200 feet and is located in Giant Springs State Park near Great Falls.
Over the years, folks have debated this in and out of the United States. Some claim that the world's shortest river is the D River in Oregon, however, that river is more than twice as long as the Roe. Recently, there has been a claim that a river in the Republic of Abkhazia is the world's shortest, however, we're sticking with the Roe.
While the Roe River isn't very long, it flows into the Missouri River which is the longest river in the United States. The next time you're in the Great Falls area, make sure you check out Giant Springs State Park, not only is it a beautiful area, but it's also home to history.
