Missoula Police Department Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold issued the following update:

The priority of the Missoula Police Department is the safety of those in our community.  A report was made regarding a disturbance with weapons involved at the VA clinic jeopardizing the lives of those in the clinic.  Missoula Police Department responded, set a perimeter, and used strategic methods to ensure the safety of those involved, the surrounding public, and take the suspect into custody.

There were no physical injuries to anyone involved however, Missoula Police Department understands there are different emotional responses when a person or community feels their safety has been jeopardized.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Through the Missoula Police Department’s investigation, many of the initially reported concerns could not be corroborated.  The Missoula County attorney’s office is currently reviewing the facts of the case and will make a determination as to whether criminal charges are filed.

The Missoula Police Department provided the following update:

Missoula Police Department responded to a disturbance and a weapon threat at the VA Clinic in the 3800 Block of W. Broadway.  One person has been taken into custody and there is no threat to the public.  The VA Clinic and surrounding businesses are now open and resuming business. 

According to Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold, this incident is still under investigation with the Missoula Police Department and no additional details are available.

According to the Missoula Police Department, a person has been taken into custody. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold said there is still an active and evolving situation. The VA Clinic in the 3800 block of W. Broadway remains closed.

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On September 29, 2022, at approximately 2:13 p.m., the Missoula Police Department announced that there is an active and evolving situation in the 3800 block of W. Broadway. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold provided this brief statement.

"This is an evolving incident and there are multiple first responders in the area," Arnold said. "Police have a perimeter set. I am asking people to stay away from the area. Please get out to your viewers and listeners that the VA is closed at this time and not to go to the area."
