With crews battling the Miller Peak fire southeast of Missoula, two more fires sprouted up east and west of Missoula.

Beacon Hill Fire

The Lolo National Forest Facebook page informed the public early Thursday morning a fire began west of St. Regis.

"Lolo Nationa Forest Firefighters are responding to a new fire start west of St. Regis, MT. Smoke is visible north of Interstate 90 at mile marker 36. The Beacon Hill fire is estimated at an acre. It is burning on a south aspect slope, in timber with grassy understory. Helicopters and other resources have been ordered for this fire. More information will be provided as available."

The Beacon Fire started a day after a small fire popped up in East Missoula.

East Missoula Fire

The East Missoula Rural Fire Department posted on Facebook "Crews are actively working a wildland fire in the 1100 block of Deer Creek Road along with Missoula Rural Fire District and other agencies." Fortunately, the East Missoula Fire Department provided a positive update roughly 5 hours later.

"This fire has been marked under control. Crews are moping up the area and will be returning to service soon."
