Nephi in Need Would Love You to Visit Missoula Humane Society
A bittersweet journey brought her to the shelter. This gal was so loved. Here's hoping she will get more of that love for the rest of her days.
It was another Take Me Home Tuesday here at the radio station studios, presented by our animal-loving friends at Paul's Pancake Parlor in Missoula. Janet from the Humane Society of Western Montana brought Nephi in for a visit. And it made for a good time to remind people that the shelter occasionally has older adult cats waiting for adoption.
Nephi is 11 years old. She is beautiful, healthy and cuddly. It's obvious she has been very well cared for. So what brought her to the shelter? Well, a woman loved her so much that she just had to let her go.
Janet explained that her owner was quite elderly and just could no longer care for her. That had to have been a sad farewell for both Nephi and her owner. But the shelter has a program that might incentivize a new older owner.
SENIORS FOR SENIORS
You don't have to be a senior citizen to adopt Nephi, but Janet reminded us about "Seniors for Seniors." That program for dogs and cats gives seniors the opportunity to adopt with no adoption fees. Older people come in often and explain that they don't want their pets to substantially outlive them, for fear of what might happen to the pet should the owners pass. Plus, you are adopting an animal that tends to be more quiet and mellow than a youngster.
Nephi is spayed, vaccinated and ready to go! The Humane Society of Western Montana is open Wednesdays - Saturdays from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm. They are located at 5930 Highway 93 South in Missoula. See many of the loving animals, both cats and dogs, currently waiting for their forever homes here.
