Running remains one of the most affordable of sports. But it never hurts to save money.

Thursday marks the last day to save some money on your registration fee for this year's Missoula Marathon in June.

Even if you miss the deadline, registering sometime in the next few weeks makes sense.

Registration info

This year's marathon is set for Sunday, June 30th. Although the course may have to be adjusted to get around the Maclay Bridge closure, plans still call for the full-marathon, which starts at Frenchtown, and the half-marathon. Both races end as racers cross the Beartracks Bridge coming into Downtown Missoula.

Through Thursday, February 15th, you can still register for $112, before the fees start climbing as we head toward race day. After Thursday, registration costs $122. If you wait until Race Day in June, the fee maxes out at $142.

Long-time racers and repeat runners know the best bargain is to sign up as soon as registration opens on October 1st for the following year. This year that price was $97.

A fun contest too

Organizers are also offering other giveaways and promotions. For example, this week "Gizelle P" won the "Besties" contest on Instagram, which gives her free registration, two nights at the Doubletree Hotel, a rental car, and even her own private porta-potty at the starting line. So that's worth a future follow on Instagram!
