Summer may feel like it's quickly coming to a close with the days of rain we had in early August, the Halloween decorations in stores, and the reappearance of pumpkin spice.

But summer isn't officially over yet, and an upcoming event from the Watson Children's Shelter and the Missoula PaddleHeads is the perfect opportunity to squeeze some more joy out of summer.

Missoula PaddleHeads

The PaddleHeads have been having an incredible season, and if you've never been to a game, it's worth seeing the team play, especially if you're there on a night like Wizards and Wands or Star Wars Night. And the PaddleHeads love supporting kids--remember that on Sundays kids get into the games free.

Watson Children's Shelter

The Watson Children's Shelter has supported kids by providing safety, nurturing, and stability since its inception as the Jack and Jill Nursery in 1968. Through their programs Healthy Foundations and Shelter Care, they serve children and families "through quality services and trauma-informed care."

Watson Children's Shelter and the Missoula PaddleHeads have "teamed up" to host a free night of fun for families. Grab your bike and head to Ogren Park at Allegiance Field for a movie night.

They'll be screening "Kung Fu Panda 4" from 2 - 6 pm on Saturday, August 10. A few key reminders:

  • alcohol-free event
  • activities for kids and concessions available
  • no outside food or beverages allowed
  • there will be "bike sitters" for your bike
  • all ages welcome
  • it's free

If you'd like to attend the event but don't have a bicycle for you or anyone in your family, stop by Free Cycles Missoula on your way. They have free bikes for kids 10 and under and affordable bikes for everyone.
