Montana Football Fans Should Be Excited About 2024 Season
The University of Montana Grizzlies football team came so close last year to winning it all. The made it to the FCS National Championship Game, where they eventually lost to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 23-3. The Montana State Bobcats made it to the post season too, they fell in the first round in overtime to North Dakota State University 35 to 34.
FCS Championship Game Changes
There have been a lot of changes since the end of the last college football season. One big change will be with the FCS National Championship Game itself. The game will no longer be played on a Sunday.

The University of Montana Grizzlies have seen some changes of their own recently. There have been multiple player changes for the Griz, while players enter the "transfer portal" and try their luck at other schools. One of the recent moves is former Griz DE Kale Edwards has signed to play for the New Mexico State Aggies.
FCS Preseason Top 25
It may feel like spring has just started in Montana, but it isn't too early to start looking ahead to the 2024/2025 football season. Craig Haley from the Analyst.com has released his "Top 25 FCS Preseason Rankings". Fans of football in Montana may be excited to see that both teams from Montana have made the top 5. The University of Montana Grizzlies are ranked 3rd, the Montana State Bobcats come in at number 5.
Big Sky Conference Football Teams Preseason Ranking
The North Dakota State Bison are ranked number one and the South Dakota Jackrabbits are ranked number two. There are three other Big Sky Conference teams that have made the top 25:
- No. 7 Sacramento State Hornets
- No. 8 Idaho Vandals
- No. 15 Weber State Wildcats
The University of Montana Grizzlies are on their GSA Spring Tour, where they will be traveling throughout the state of Montana drumming up support for the team.

There is a lot that can still happen between now and the beginning of the upcoming football season. The Montana State Bobcats will kick off their season on August 24th they will have 6 home games for the season with the "Brawl of the Wild" being in Bozeman this year. The Montana Grizzlies kick off their season on August 31st and will have seven home games this season.
This is a great time of year, because for now every football fan still has hope that their team will dominate the upcoming season.
