The idea of a "real Montana man" in my opinion hinges on several character traits, the first being one who can take care of himself and the people around him. Having facial hair is nice, but just because someone doesn't want to participate in No Shave November or Movember doesn't make them any less of a man than they already are. The real value's on the inside, y'all.

Hopping on the trend wagon isn't anything new: "fair weather fans" join the fun while their team is doing well, kids pull ridiculous stunts because some yahoo on TikTok said it was a "challenge," and people will be tempted to spend more than they can afford because of trendy new ways to buy stuff.

But not all trends are nefarious in their intent, in fact some have led to positive change. Take "No Shave November" and "Movember," two trends that have led to organizations promoting awareness of men's health issues.

What's The Difference?

According to No Shave November, the idea is that men stop shaving for the month and donate what they would have spent on razors and shaving cream to charities and non-profits supporting a variety of cancer research. By contrast, Movember encourages men to grow moustaches and get active, while their donations collected fund cancer research and men's mental health. According to Movember, 60 men commit suicide every hour, and awareness raised can help save lives. Although the two organizations seem similar, they take slightly different approaches to raising awareness through their yearly campaigns.
