I have been into archery since I was old enough to draw back my first "stick" bow. It has been a family pastime that I have been fortunate enough to partake in for most of my life. Practicing every night after school, even before I touch my homework, in order to be my best on the field. Am I good at archery? Kind of. Am I decent at shooting my bow? Usually, I fall in the middle of the pack. Which is probably why you don't see me wearing a jersey with all of my sponsors' names on it while standing on the winner's podium holding up a giant check.

Montana is home to some very talented archers.

Archery has been around since the dawn of man. In fact according to Wikipedia:

The oldest known evidence of the bow and arrow comes from South African sites such as Sibudu Cave, where the remains of bone and stone arrowheads have been found dating approximately 72,000 to 60,000 years ago.

It is a sport that relies on physically being able to draw and release the bow. But, it is more of a mental sport than it is physical. As archers tend to battle their brains in an attempt to achieve proper form and steady their aim.

A Montana archer managed to find himself on the world stage.

Kris Schaff of Billings is competing with archers worldwide in the Hyundai Archery World Cup.

According to usarchery.org

Olivia Dean and Kris Schaff will face the Mexico pairing of Andrea Becerra and Lot Ma?ximo Méndez Ortiz in a battle for the compound mixed team bronze medal. ean and Schaff navigated their passage to the bronze medal match on Friday with wins over Singapore and Turkey. They narrowly lost 152-150 to Estonia in the semifinals, setting up a Saturday meeting with Mexico.

Congrats to Kris on his win. Thanks for representing Montana in the World Cup.
