There is no denying that Montana has been found. Hollywood is looking to Montana as "the Last Best Place " to film movies. Especially western movies. There has been a growing trend with western movies over the last few years. It is nowhere near the heyday of classic westerns that came out in the 1950s and 1960s. But, it is growing by the day. Many of these movies are looking to Montana for filming, as we offer up such a beautiful backdrop. Not to mention, hit shows like "Yellowstone," "1923" and coming soon "1944."

Nicholas Cage has recently filmed two movies here in Montana. Richard Dreyfuss just finished his role in a western movie. Even pop sensation, Machine Gun Kelly, has filmed a western movie here. Now, Alec Baldwin is coming back to Montana to finish a movie that has been shrouded in controversy and a possible murder.

"Rust" is moving production from New Mexico to Montana this Spring 2023.

According to The Hill

The Alec Baldwin-led Western movie was filming in New Mexico in 2021 when cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed in a shooting on the set. Authorities said Baldwin fired a live round from a prop gun while rehearsing a scene. Baldwin, also a producer on the movie, and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were both charged with involuntary manslaughter last month by the Santa Fe district attorney’s office.

Just recently the makers of the movie announced the filming of the movie will go on. Despite the legal battles and charges. They are planning to move the production from New Mexico to the Yellowstone Film Ranch near Livingston.
