Montana Football Schedules First-Ever Series With UTRGV

Grizzly Football is prepping for the upcoming 2026 fall season. Twelve games are on the docket, with seven at home. Here's Montana's 2026 schedule, including currently announced kickoff times.

We now have a new future opponent for Grizzly Football, and it's a team Montana has never played before. Heck, there aren't a lot of schools that have played this school because they're entering their second year of football existence.

Montana to play UT Rio Grande Valley in 2030 and 2031

The Grizzlies and Vaqueros will meet up on August 31, 2030, in Missoula and the following year on August 30 in Edinburg, Texas.

"We are always looking to schedule great nonconference opponents, and UTRGV is definitely that. They have done a great job building strong community support and have excellent facilities. We look forward to making the trip, and also welcoming the Vaqueros to Missoula." - Montana Athletic Director Kent Haslam said on gogriz.com

The Vaqueros are entering their second season after going 9-3 in their inaugural season. UTRGV posted a robust record, but they did play three non-D1 teams.

They had a couple of decent wins, including a 56-28 victory against Incarnate Word.
