If there's a way to write about Grizzly Football in February I will find it and do it.

Breaking down the Montana Grizzlies

As I was scrolling Twitter yesterday, and completely ignoring the work I was supposed to be tackling, I stumbled across a highlight of the Montana Grizzlies from the 2024 season. Unfortunately, the game was the quarterfinal loss in Brookings against South Dakota State, but the play is a fun design.

I'll do my best to break down the play:

Reciever Drew Deck motions across the formation from right to left before the snap. As the ball is snapped, Deck motions back right behind quarterback Keali'i Ah Yat.Ah Yat goes WOP and fakes the handoff to Deck.

Meanwhile, two big boy offensive linemen are pulling towards the left side of the line yelling "WE'RE COMING TO STOMP A MUD HOLE IN YOUR CHEST," or something like that.

Then Ah Yat fakes a second half laughing at the Jackrabbits' defense. Oh, you thought the play was complex? Well here comes Xavier Harris from the wide receiver position to take the backwards shuttle and BANG he's off and running.

How was that? Did I explain it well, Coach Casey?

By the way, we're just under 200 days until Griz Football returns against Central Washington at home.
