Former Montana Grizzlies head coach Bobby Hauck is out as defensive coordinator with the Illinois Fighting Illini.

"I enjoyed being a part of the staff here at Illinois and working alongside Coach Bielema every day. I am very appreciative of the opportunity to be here and thankful for all of the hard work from the players, coaches, and staff. I wish Illinois the best of luck." -Bobby Hauck

Bielema said that the two parties agreed to mutually part ways.

Hauck retired as Grizzly head coach in February, and soon after took the DC job under Bret Bielema at Illinois. Hauck's tenure lasted four games and recently came to an end after Ohio State beat down the Illini 42-19.

There was a lot of online chatter about Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith putting up the absurd stat line of 12 receptions, 217 yards, and 4 touchdowns, all while being single-covered.

As of Sunday night, the other former Grizzly coaches on Illinois staff are still there. Ronnie Bradford, Roger Cooper, Matt Linehan, and Robby Hauck are still on the coaches page.

Through four games, Hauck's defense surrendered 23 against UAB, 31 against Duke in a loss, just 10 against Southern Illinois, and then 42 against Ohio State.
