The Montana Grizzly basketball program earned Big Sky Conference honors Monday as Jamar Akoh was named the Big Sky Conference Ready Nutrition Player of the Week.
The junior forward earned the award for his performance against North Dakota and Northern Colorado, averaging 28 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Against the Fighting Hawks Akoh scored 22 points, pulled in 11 rebounds, had three assists, and a steal, his points and rebounds leading the team on the night. In his game against the Bears Akoh would drop 34 points, the most by a Grizzly in eight seasons.
Montana would put up 109 points against North Dakota , the highest points Montana has scored in a game against a Division-1 team since 1992. The highlight of the night would be Akoh’s double double where at one point he would score four points in four seconds in the second half, a dunk off a fast break, and then stealing the inbound pass to lay it in. Akoh tipped off the scoring to earn 10 points in the first 10 minutes of play, and 10 of the teams 18 first points on the night. The back to back double figure performance last week would make it in nine consecutive games to score in double figures, averaging 19 points and eight rebound over that span.
Montana has won six of their last seven games, including their first four in Conference play, and a perfect 7-0 at home in Dahlberg Arena.
