The Helena Bengal soccer program made their way over the pass to Missoula to play the Hellgate Knights at the Rattlesnake Fields and the Lady Knights would fall to the Bengals 4-1.
The first half would be owned by the Bengals as they would punch the ball in the back of the net in the opening minutes to take a 1-0 lead. Helena would own the time of possession in th efirst 40 minutes of play, and in the 11th minute Maddie Mariegard scored for the Bengals. With Helena pushing the ball offensively the Helena forced corner kicks in the first half and off a set play the Bengals earned another goal when Grace Lawlor scored on a header. Helena found the back of the net a final time in the first half when Alanna Vickory scored in stoppage time to put the Bengals up 3-0 at the half.
Lady Knights head coach Ian Marshall made his changes at the half and had keeper Sierra Ward stay warm with some drills. The Knights came out of the break with more energy in their step and held on to stay even on time of possession, and had some quality shots on goal. Lead by their mid-fielders the Knights kept the ball on the Helena half of the pitch and in the 28th minute Hellgate Knight sophomore Elaina Pierce scored to put the Knights on the board. Helena was not done though as Melina Hammer earned a point for the Bengals when she scored in the 13th minute to cap the game off at 4-1.
